There are many different pride/LGBT events around the world, but there aren’t many that celebrate just families. This year will be the first annual Family Outfest in Orlando. Set to take place from July 1st to July 7th and presented by Converge Orlando and the Family Equality Council, the week-long event is designed to bring LGBT and Straight Allied families together to experience the city, theme parks and other family friendly activities found in Central Florida. The event is set to bring 500+ families to Orlando that will give families the ability to experience the wonders of Orlando on a budget and create lasting friendships of a life time.

The mission of Family Outfest is to celebrate the shared cultural heritage of what all families look like, regardless of who you are, how you identify or whom you love. Our purpose is to celebrate our diverse and authentic kin while exploring the wonders of Orlando. The organizers have put together an exciting itinerary with a week full of fun-filled festivities not just for kids but also for parents. And with Orlando’s world class theme parks, attractions and restaurants, the city is 100% prepared for LGBT families.
Official events will bring local communities and travelers together. These will include a Welcome Reception, a Parents Night Out, Nick After Dark, The Fun Spot, daily theme park activities and an Independence Day Festival at Gaston Edwards Park on July 5th closing with a fireworks show over Lake Ivanhoe.
Converge Orlando, a non-profit membership organization, was created three years ago to solely concentrate on enhancing the LGBT-friendly perception of Orlando and Central Florida and improve the visibility of the destination to gay and lesbian visitors. Orlando is fortunate to be in the top 10 most popular travel destinations for LGBT travelers.
